Mario Batali ignites criticism after apologizing to fans for sexual misconduct with a cinnamon roll recipe

Fans are wishing Mario Batali's apology didn't come with a side of anything.

The former Chew co-host sent what appeared to be a heartfelt apology about the sexual misconduct allegations against him, before bizarrely suggesting a recipe for a "holiday-inspired breakfast."

"As many of you know, this week there has been some news coverage about some of my past behavior," Batali began. "I have made many mistakes and I am so very sorry that I have disappointed my friends, my family, my fans and my team. My behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. I take full responsibility."

"I will work every day to regain your respect and trust," he concluded his statement, before attaching a recipe for pizza dough cinnamon rolls.

Batali's followers quickly took to social media to criticize his post, with Whitney Cummings writing, "If you make the cinnamon rolls Mario Batali included in his 'apology,' I am interested in making a documentary about you."

ET has reached out to Batali's rep for comment.
