Antonio Banderas backs Salma Hayek after Harvey Weinstein denies accusations: 'Her integrity gives credit to her words'
Previously mum when hit with several accusations of rape and sexual harassment, film producer tycoon Harvey Weinstein fired a statement to a searing New York Times op-ed by Hollywood actress Salma Hayek, denying the disturbing acts Hayek alleges he demanded or forced.
"Mr. Weinstein does not recall pressuring Salma to do a gratuitous sex scene with a female costar and he was not there for the filming," read part of his statement, which opposes Salma's accusation of being forced to do a lesbian sex scene in the biopic of Frida, who was indeed regarded a queer individual.
Hayek's accusations against Weinstein include being constantly harassed for sexual favors and being followed hotel to hotel, location to location with serial advances by the Miramax co-founder.
In the aftermath of Weinstein's rebuttal rhetoric, Hayek's former costar (see: 1995's Desperado and 2003's Once Upon a Time in Mexico) Antonio Banderas issued a statement of his own via social media Thursday morning (Dec. 14). Saddened by what his friend is dealing with, Banderas showed his support for his dear friend: "Her integrity and honesty as a woman and as a professional make me give absolute credit to her words."
