Carrie Fisher's dog Gary inspired a new alien in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Carrie Fisher will make her last appearance as General Leia Organa in Star Wars: The Last Jedi -- alongside a new creature inspired by her beloved dog.

That's right, the actress' iconic canine companion, Gary Fisher, inspired a new alien creature featured in the upcoming Star Wars flick, director Rian Johnson confirmed on Tuesday.

Fans spotted the creature in the background of new photos from the movie that were featured in Empire magazine. He looks to the camera in a scene in Canto Bright behind John Boyega's Finn and Kelly Marie Tran's Rose.

Fisher, who died on Dec. 27 last year, was incredibly close with her canine companion, and even brought him along on the red carpet at The Force Awakens premiere in 2015.
