Megyn Kelly offers to host both Matt Lauer and his accusers on her 'Today' hour

If Matt Lauer so chooses, he could return to the "Today" show -- as a guest on Megyn Kelly's hour.

Over the last month, Kelly has sat down with a number of alleged sexual harassment and assault victims, and she has no intention of stopping just because Lauer was a prominent co-worker. His accusers are welcome on the show, she said -- and so is he.

"As hard as it is to report on one of our own colleagues, we remain committed to telling people's stories if they choose to come forward," Kelly told viewers on Thursday. "And the women in this case too — the Matt Lauer case — are invited and welcome to do exactly that on this show."

She continued, "We have been that place in all the other cases, and we will be that place — as well as for the accused — on this hour."

The invitation comes one day after Lauer was suddenly axed from NBC, a bombshell decision that reportedly blindsided staffers through the whole network. Up until Wednesday, Kelly's 9 AM hour followed two hours hosted by Lauer and Savannah Guthrie.

Although it's impossible to know exactly what's going on behind the scenes, multiple reports claim NBC employees suspect Kelly herself was in some way involved with Lauer's dismissal. There were reports of quiet tension between the two, who were some of NBC's highest-paid news personalities.

In November, Kelly was one of the first news anchors to land one-on-one interviews with victims of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
