Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall reacts to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement

Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was asked during an official engagement on Tuesday about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement, which was announced by husband Prince Charles' office on Monday morning.

During a visit to the city of Stoke alongside Charles, Camilla said that she is "absolutely thrilled" about her stepson's exciting news.

"It's brilliant!" Camilla, 70, continued. "America's loss is our gain. We are absolutely delighted. As you can see, they're so happy. Sometimes in a climate where we're surrounded by a lot of bad news, it's a real joy to have a bit of good news for once."

Camilla's remarks come one day after her husband released a statement on their behalf.

"We're thrilled," Prince Charles said on Monday. "We're both thrilled. We hope they'll be very happy indeed."

Harry's brother, Prince William, and his wife, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, also shared their congratulations in a joint statement on Monday.

"We are very excited for Harry and Meghan," they said. "It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

Harry's fellow members of the British royal family weren't the only notable names to react to the news, either. Celebrities like Khloe Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and more took to Twitter on Monday to share their congratulations with the happy couple.
