Duane Chapman and wife Beth taking a break from bounty hunting

Reality TV couple and real life bounty hunters Duane and Beth Chapman will take a step back from their business as Beth battles throat cancer.

The couple told TooFab on Tuesday that they won't be hunting down criminals because it's too stressful, and they want to focus on Beth's health.

"Times have changed. We live in a different world. People have a different respect for law enforcement, which is quite saddening. A lot of people do not have a respect for the judicial system and it is causing a slight collapse of our society," Beth said.

Beth, 50, explained that she doesn't want to worry about whether her husband will make it home after a day out bounty hunting.

"I feel like, even though I had a 50/50 chance with this surgery, Duane has a 50/50 chance every time he leaves the house and that contributes to my stress," she said. "There is a different mood in our country these days."

"There's a big movement out there that people are trying to push the fact that people are in jail because they're poor. People are not in jail because they're poor, brother, they're in jail because they broke the law. That way of thinking could get law enforcement killed, it could get my husband killed, "she continued. "In going through something as traumatic as what we just went through, for me a lifestyle change is in order."

Duane, 64, told TooFab that he still hopes to work in law enforcement in some capacity.

"For 40 years, I've done bounty hunting. I think it'd have to be something in law enforcement," he said.

Beth and Duane, AKA Dog the Bounty Hunter, confirmed in September that Beth had been diagnosed with Stage II throat cancer.

She underwent a 13-hour surgery to remove the rumor that same month.

The couple documented their experiences catching fugitives on the A&E show "Dog the Bounty Hunter."

They have a special airing on Nov. 27 titled "Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives," which will document Beth's cancer diagnosis, surgery and recovery.
