Julia Louis-Dreyfus' cancer battle: 'Veep' star plans to resume shooting after treatment

Cancer has certainly met its match in Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The actress, who revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in September, just wrapped up her third round of chemotherapy this month -- and according to the executive producer of "Veep," she's preparing to get back to work.

“Julia is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and we’re obviously postponing production of the show — we were supposed to have started now — while she’s in treatment,” said Frank Rich, the show's EP, on SiriusXM Wednesday. “But the expectation is that we will shoot again.”

The upcoming season of "Veep" will be the show's seventh and final -- and Dreyfus has consecutively won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series throughout the show's entire run.

“We have one more season we’re doing, which we’re incredibly excited about," RIch continued. "Rather impressively, while we wait for her to gather her full strength, around her treatment we’ve been having with the cast in Los Angeles, table reads of scripts for the final season as they’re ready."

"I've seen her as recently as 10 days ago, watched her be hilarious playing Selina Meyer with the cast all around her, playing the assorted group of idiots that Selina has to deal with on a weekly basis on the show," Rich said. "She's got a great support system and she's a very strong person. We can't wait to welcome her back at full speed."

It was just days after this year's Emmy Awards that Dreyfus shared the unexpected news of her diagnosis with fans: “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” she tweeted. “The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

In the weeks since, Dreyfus has remained active on social media, encouraging her followers to stay abreast of the latest political news -- and demanding that Apple rectify a very annoying iPhone issue that autocorrects the capital letter "I" into a boxed question mark. "Hey @Apple FIX these phones!!!" she wrote in an exasperated tweet.

Listen up, Apple -- if Julia Louis-Dreyfus asks, you best provide.
