Kate Middleton's uncle pleads guilty to assaulting wife

Kate Middleton’s uncle has pleaded guilty to assaulting his wife in October, the BBC reports.

Gary Goldsmith, 52, was accused of punching his wife, Julie-Ann Goldsmith, 47, in the face outside their London home during a drunken argument.

The cab driver who brought them home on October 13 alleged Goldsmith’s wife was knocked unconscious after she was hit.

According to the prosecutor, the driver called police at his wife’s request -- though Julie-Ann Goldsmith reportedly didn’t remember how the incident occurred.

Goldsmith -- the younger brother of the Duchess of Cambridge’s mother, Carole -- pleaded guilty on one count of assault by beating. He's been released on bail and will be sentenced on November 21.

Reports indicate that he'll likely face a community service order.

He was at niece Kate's wedding with Prince William back in 2011, as well as Pippa's wedding earlier this year, in May.
