Blake Shelton was named People's Sexiest Man Alive and Twitter is not happy about it

Updated

When People magazine named Blake Shelton the Sexiest Man Alive for 2017, Twitter was quick to respond with a resounding "no."

It seems as though the public isn't happy with the magazine's choice this year: Is the goofy coach from "The Voice" really the sexiest man on the planet?

In one viral tweet, Akilah Hughes asked "Did everybody die?" as if implying that the magazine had no other option but to choose Shelton, who's been dating Gwen Stefani for over two years now, as their titleholder for this year.

"I think I can explain why Blake Shelton was the [Sexiest] Man Alive instead of Idris Elba," another user tweeted alongside a photo collage of a bunch of the magazine's picks for the title through the years. "They literally ran out of white people."

In the collage, all of the men on the cover are white celebrities.

"Blake Shelton is sexy if you like a guy who's always about to lean in and tell you about hearty, healthy, American dog food," someone else proclaimed. To be fair, a lot of people are probably into that.

Regardless of the feedback, we doubt that Shelton is even bothering to pay attention to it. After all, Stefani herself reacted to her boyfriend's latest title by gushing about him on Twitter.

"I guess I've been kissing the #sexiestmanalive all this time but @people I knew that allready! [sic]," she posted with a photo of herself kissing her man.
