'NCIS' star Pauley Perrette reveals she was raped in high school

As scores of women speak out against sexual harassment and assault in the wake of allegations surrounding movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Pauley Perrette is adding her voice to the chorus.

The NCIS star posted a message on Twitter early Friday morning saying that she endured a harrowing experience in high school.

"I've never met THAT Harvey Weinstein, but I sure do know him. In different shapes, sizes and names," she shared on Twitter. "I lost my virginity in a rape when I was 15, by a football player. That's the 'power guy' in high school. And you know what I SAID? What I DID...;? Nothing."

Perrette explained that the incident left her "so scared, confused and broken" and led her down a path of believing that "being complacent was 'good behavior.'"

"My rape led me into a series of abusive relationships, terrible self-worth, and self-blame, dismissing a few groping incidents, allowing myself to be bullied by a powerful man for way too long in a work environment, until I finally said ENOUGH," she wrote.

Referencing the accusations leveled against Weinstein, the actress noted that "awful" sexual assault revelations are just as prevalent outside of the entertainment industry, in schools, offices and households.

Perrette commended and offered words of support to all victims and survivors, "including those that haven't found your voice yet."

Her message concluded, "These predators must be stopped and we must start respecting each other's humanity and dismissing the illusion of power that makes abusers think they are untouchable."

Perrette, who'll soon be ending her run on NCIS after 15 seasons, shared her story one week following the publication of The New York Times' exposé on decades of Weinstein's alleged sexual harassment, and days before The New Yorker's investigative report, which surfaced additional sexual assault and rape claims.
