Back in 2003, May finished in second on the since-cancelled reality show, "Last Comic Standing." In years since, he's made a name for himself through a handful of popular comedy specials on Netflix and Comedy Central like "Ralphie May: Austin-Tatious," "Ralphie May: Too Big to Ignore" and "Ralphie May: Imperfectly Yours."

May was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. He married his ex-wife Lahna Turner in 2005 before filing for divorce in 2015. They share two children together, who they engaged in a custody battle over. TMZ reported that he was "devastated" by the split.

After news of his passing broke on Friday, comedians like Ken Jeong, Bob Saget and more took to Twitter to mourn the May, who was a dear friend to a lot of people in the comedy world.
