Lionel Richie on daughter Sofia's relationship with Scott Disick: 'I'm scared to death'

Model Sofia Richie, 19, has solidified her spot as one of fashion’s coolest “it girls” of the moment, but that spotlight has recently shifted to focus on her new, controversial relationship with E! reality star and dad of three, Scott Disick, 34.

News that Richie is dating Kourtney Kardashian’s longtime ex-boyfriend Scott was confirmed in September, after the two were spotted together out and about in New York City.

US Weekly asked Sofia's father, Lionel Richie, his thoughts on the situation at American Idol auditions (he was recently named a judge for the hit show’s reboot season, alongside Katy Perry and Luke Bryan) on Wednesday (Oct. 4), and like any normal concerned dad, we can’t say his reaction is surprising.

“Have I been in shock?! I’m the dad, come on,” the 68-year-old expressed. “I’m scared to death, are you kidding me?” he said of his teenage daughter’s new-found love interest.

The couple has been seen together in NYC, LA, and even on a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico over the past month, showing no shortage of PDA, and the 19-year-old, who previously dated Justin Bieber, even made the relationship “Instagram official” on Tuesday, posing for a cozy photo with Disick on the beach.
