Kelly Ripa allegedly forced Ryan Seacrest to cancel 'Good Morning America' appearance promoting 'American Idol'

Once again, it seems there's drama brewing behind-the-scenes at ABC.

According to multiple sources speaking to Page Six, Kelly Ripa was furious this week upon learning that her "Live" co-host Ryan Seacrest was scheduled to appear on "Good Morning America" to promote "American Idol."

“Ryan was scheduled to be on Wednesday’s show well in advance. He’s been on the show rundown for a week," one source claimed. "Then yesterday, or maybe even as late as last night, Kelly threw a s–t fit and told him he couldn’t do ‘GMA,’ so he pulled his appearance."

Seacrest, who signed on to co-host the "American Idol" reboot just months after joining "Live," is reportedly trying his best to "stay on [Ripa's] good side," the source said. He immediately cancelled his "GMA" spot, but "Idol" judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan appeared as scheduled.

Ripa infamously lost former co-host Michael Strahan to "GMA" last year, and according to those privately speaking to press, she certainly doesn't want to endure another embarrassing and drawn-out host shuffle.

In response to the claims, a rep for Seacrest said, "Ryan had wanted to appear on ‘GMA’ with the new ‘Idol’ judges … but with the constant shifting of various schedules, we determined yesterday, along with ‘GMA,’ as well as ABC/Freemantle producers and publicity teams, that his schedule was too tight given his morning commitments with ’Live’ and his radio show, along with ‘Idol’ production commitments … To suggest any other reason for him not participating is completely false or a misunderstanding of the facts."

"Good Morning America" airs beginning 7 AM each morning on ABC, while "Live with Kelly and Ryan" airs at 9 AM. Their studios are about 20 blocks away from each other in New York City.

Despite reports of drama, Ripa has appeared nothing but enthusiastic on-screen when talking about the upcoming "American Idol" reboot with Ryan.
