Miley Cyrus dishes on relationship with Liam Hemsworth in Howard Stern interview

Miley Cyrus’s sit-down with shock-jock Howard Stern on Wednesday (Oct. 4) was full of revelations about her on-and-off relationship with now-fiancé Liam Hemsworth. She shared a “funny, f--king crazy” story about how Hemsworth was the one who couldn’t get away. “When we broke up, he wanted to get away from me,” she said. Naturally, he bought a house in Malibu.

Little did he know, it was the house Cyrus recorded her first album in. “The person hid all the plaques in the garage so he would still buy the house,” she said. “So then he went to move in and he was like, 'F--k! I cannot get away. This b---h is all over my f--king house!'” Her plaques were everywhere.

But now the reunited couple lives in the house together and she wrote her song “Malibu” about their life together. The song, which peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100 in June, includes the lyrics: “I never would've believed you/ If three years ago you told me/ I'd be here writing this song.”

She later dished on how she feels when Hemsworth stars opposite an attractive person. “I get that little butterfly in my stomach,” she said. “I know me and I know what our relationship is, so anyone's gonna feel like ... it's f--king abnormal, I think, but my life is abnormal.” When Stern prodded to see if she checks up on him while he’s on set, she said, “I keep my little spies. So I don't always have to be there.”

Stern observed that it was healthy that Cyrus and Hemsworth spent time apart so they could experience other things while they’re young. In response, Cyrus said, “I don't like when relationships are too halves trying to make a whole. ... It's that 'I can't eat, I can't sleep.' Well, that's because you're so used to depending on someone else. So I don't think that I have that codependency.”

The interview covered a lot of ground. At one point, Cyrus talked about how she hasn’t smoked weed in eight months. “I think it set some paranoia into me and then it started going into my real life when I wasn't stoned,” she said. “It was when Snoop had said, 'you smoke more than anyone I know.' And I was like, 'Alright, I gotta cut it out.’”

The end of the interview took on a more serious tone as she performed a tribute to rock icon Tom Petty with the song “Wildflowers.” Listen to her rendition below:
