Kim Cattrall on Sarah Jessica Parker: 'I don't know what her issue is. I never have'

Kim Cattrall is tired of being made to look like the enemy.

In a new interview, Cattrall completely shut down rumors that pre-production on "Sex and the City 3" froze because she was being unreasonable during negotiations. Reports surfaced last week that Cattrall told producers she would only do the film if Warner Bros. backed other projects she had in development. But according to Cattrall, that's just blatantly untrue.

"Now at this very moment, it's quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I've been saying for almost a year of 'no,' that I'm demanding or a diva," Cattrall told Piers Morgan during a pre-taped interview for his new ITV show "Life Stories." An audience member leaked details of their conversation to the Daily Mail.

"And this is really where I take to task the people from 'Sex and the City' and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker in that I think she could have been nicer," Cattrall continued. "I really think she could have been nicer. I don't know what her issue is. I never have."

Cattrall's biting words follow Parker's admission to Extra on Thursday that she really, really wanted to do the film.

"It's over ... we're not doing it," Parker said. "I'm disappointed. We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It's not just disappointing that we don't get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie."

Although Parker didn't specifically confirm or deny the rumors about Cattrall, it's evident that Cattrall lays some blame on her for the onslaught of negative press.

"The answer was always no and a respectful, firm, no," Cattrall told Morgan. "I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous."

Cattrall reportedly told Morgan that she'd gotten occasional calls since December 2016 about the idea of doing a third "Sex and the City" flick. She repeatedly, she said, declined offers to meet with producers.

"This isn't about more money, this is not about more scenes, it's not about any of those things," Cattrall said. "This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I'm 61. It's now."
