'Flip or Flop' star Tarek El Moussa shares photo from 'one of the absolute lowest points of my life'

"Flip or Flop" star Tarek El Moussa has had a tumultuous last couple of years, and now he's opening up about one of his particularly low moments.

In a revealing Instagram post posted on Tuesday night, the HGTV personality revealed that a photo of himself sittign in a white pickup truck wearing shades and a short-sleeve button-down was "one of the absolute lowest points of my life."

"NOT embarrassed to share," he started. "After beating cancer twice I had a horrific back injury. Over the course of 10 months I lost 50 pounds from all the pain meds which prevented me from wanting to eat and I was nauseous all the time."

El Moussa has battled both thyroid and testicular cancer in recent years. He discovered his thyroid cancer after a viewer contacted the show after noticing a lump during a scene.

"I remember those days," he continued on Instagram. "In this photo I'm pale white....eyes are black.... and I was 169 pounds!! My clothing didn't fit and it looks like I'm wearing drapes!"

In addition to his cancer battles, El Moussa has gone through an incredibly public up-and-down divorce from his ex and "Flip or Flop" co-star, Christina El Moussa. Both stars had a back-and-forth in the press throughout their contentious split, which involved allegations of cheating -- particularly Tarek's affair with their then-nanny.

Regardless of his hardships, though, the father-of-two is resolute that he's become a better man through all of his ups and downs.

"This photo is a reminder than anything is possible with hope," he finished. "While I went through this it was the first time in my life I wanted to quit! Thank god I didn't...or I wouldn't be standing tall today!! Reminder everyone, anything is possible! You just have to believe!"
