Emmy Awards in the 1950s, '60s and '70s: See glamorous throwback photos

Suddenly we're pining for the 1950s and '60s.

Okay, not in terms of technology, movies or even politics -- but throwback photos from the early Emmy Awards have us longing for the days of classic Hollywood glamour!

The first-ever Emmy ceremony was held in Los Angeles on January 25, 1949. Since there were no paparazzi-staffed red carpets like we have today, there are few photos from these early events, which makes these pictures even more fascinating.

Take a look at Lucille Ball's 1955 gown: More than sixty years later, that black number would still look incredible -- although the curly bouffant is a bit dated! Virginia Mayo also stunned in a strapless black gown with pearl and jewled accessories. That necklace really is to die for.

Moving into the '60s and '70s, actresses became a bit bolder with their fashion choices, showing off more skin and bright, bubbly smiles. (How come women in the '50s never seemed to smile for photos?!)

We especially love "Brady Bunch" matriarch Florence Henderson's Twiggy-approved cropped cut and white lace sheath -- and who could resist Loni Anderson's bombshell figure in a cleavage-baring pink slip?
