Princess Diana's sisters: What you may not know about Lady Sarah and Lady Jane

The spotlight was on Prince Charles as he dealt with the tragic death of Princess Diana, but few realize that Diana's sisters were right there by his side.

And, though Diana as a royal was the center of attention, without her sisters, she may never have been a princess at all.

Diana's eldest sister -- Lady Sarah McCorquodale -- had actually dated Prince Charles first, and later introduced Diana to him after their romance fizzled out.

After Diana's death, McCorquodale worked to keep her sister's memory alive as the president of the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. It closed in 2012.

She said that Diana was "religious" about wearing her seatbelt and has always wondered why she wasn't wearing one the night of her deadly car crash.

Diana's other sister, Lady Jane Fellowes was married into royalty before Diana was. And it was on a getaway with Fellowes and her husband that Prince Charles and Diana's relationship was revealed to the press.

But her relationship with Diana became strained after her marriage to Charles crumbled and Fellowes fell out of touch with her younger sister well before she died.

Members of both sisters families are still close with Diana's sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
