The Roots sued by ex-drummer Frank 'Knuckles' Walker three months after his dismissal

This is one news story that Jimmy Fallon probably won't turn into a monologue joke.

The Roots are facing a lawsuit from ex-member Frank 'Knuckles' Walker, who was removed from the band in May after 15 years. He joined the band in 2002, seven years before the crew became the official house band for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" and subsequently "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

Walker, who joined the Roots in 2002, is suing on the grounds that the band is continuing to use his name and image in promotional materials three months after his dismissal. The suit claims his "legacy" could be damaged if The Roots continue to perform without admitting or acknowledging that he is no longer a member, according to the New York Daily News.

The suit does not reveal why Walker is no longer in the band.

Founded in 1987 by Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter and Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, the Roots have seen their share of members come and gone. In addition to performing every night on "Tonight Show," the band regularly performs in New York and has a massive following.
