Taylor Swift makes telling move on social media as fans eagerly await new music

Taylor Swift is coming!

The singer, who has been essentially radio silent for the better part of 2017, deleted all of her profile photos across her social media accounts, seemingly deleted all of her Instagrams and cleared out her Tumblr out of the blue on Friday morning.

The move seemed to be an obvious indication to fans that she's gearing up to release new music. Sources close to the star had said that she's been working on new material for months now, hiding out in Nashville for the majority of her time as she writes and records. She's expected to be working on her sixth studio album.

Her last release came in the fall of 2014, when she launched her incredibly successful 1989 era. Less than a year after it was released, the album surpassed 5 million in sales, making it the fastest selling album in 10 years.

Swift's extended break between album cycles was the first time in her career that she strayed away from her usual one-album-every-two-years formula. She tends to favor releasing an album's first single in August before an album release in October, though, so the timing of her social media blackout seems to hold up that pattern -- just with an extra year between albums.

The move comes less than a week after a judge ruled in Swift's favor against former radio DJ David Mueller, who Swift alleges groped her during a meet and greet. He sued Swift for defamation (he maintains that he didn't grope the star), and she countersued him for one dollar.
