Kathy Griffin tweets photo of her with man at center of Donald Trump Jr. Russia story

Kathy Griffin is once again at the center of Trump-related controversy. Sort of.

The controversial comedienne, who faced a backlash for an ISIS-inspired photo shoot that included Griffin holding the severed head of President Donald Trump last month, tweeted a picture Monday of her meeting Rob Goldstone, the British music publicist at the center of controversy engulfing Trump Jr.

Griffin tweeted: "Don't recall taking this photo with Russian intermediary Rob Goldstone, but I am in my Dynasty hat waiting for my interview with Mr. Mueller."

Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel charged with investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Goldstone brokered the June 2016 meeting between Trump Jr. and Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, a meeting which Jared Kushner and Trump campaign chairman at the time Paul Manafort also attended. Trump Jr. admitted that he attended the meeting but brushed off any controversy, arguing it was a routine campaign meeting and nothing came of it.

On Monday, The New York Times, citing three unnamed sources, reported that Goldstone emailed Trump Jr. making him aware that Veselnitskaya had damaging information on Hillary Clinton and that the source of the information was the Russian government, a revelation that has sparked renewed scrutiny of the meeting.
