Gloria Estefan mourns her mother's passing on social media: 'I will miss her every moment of every day'
Gloria Estefan's mother has died. The Latin superstar confirmed her mother's passing with a heartfelt tribute on social media Tuesday night.
"Tonight at 8:19p.m., we lost my beloved mother, the inimitable Gloria Fajardo," the singer/songwriter wrote. "I will miss her every moment of every day and I thank her for being the incredible mother, woman and role model that she was to so many people."

Estefan's daughter Emily Estefan also mourned the passing of her "Rapuela," as she used to call her, since Emily would often upload videos of her grandmother rapping on social media. "I cry for her as the sky does on this rainy day, and to anyone else who shares that pain, we grow as one unit of light, ever larger, ever stronger, for a woman who far exceeded her physical state and forever will."
Days before her mother's passing, the Grammy-winning singer canceled her performance at Green Music Center in Napa Valley, California scheduled for July 13.
"I know that many of you are already aware of the situation we have been dealing with, and have been sending prayers and support which means the world to me and my family," Estefan wrote on her social media post. "It is in that spirit, that I ask for your understanding and continued prayers through this most difficult time."
