Megyn Kelly slammed over upcoming NBC interview: 'In Megyn Kelly's America, cruelty gets you on national TV'

Megyn Kelly is in hot water over her upcoming interview with Alex Jones.

Kelly released a preview of her sit-down with the far-right radio host, and almost immediately faced backlash for her decision to "normalize" Jones. Jones famously alleged that the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a hoax, and that the parents of the 20 slain children were actors.

Nelba Márquez-Greene, whose daughter Ana Grace was one of the murdered Sandy Hook students, took to Twitter on Sunday night to take Kelly to task for her decision to interview Jones.

"I never imagined losing a child to gun violence and being involved in something like this," she wrote at Kelly. "By making this choice, you grieve our hearts and the memory of our child. You have a powerful platform. I encourage you to 'shine light' on affirming the losses suffered here -- NOT on a person who mocks those losses."

"Megyn Kelly, I pray you never know it pain [sic]," she continued. "I am asking you to be the woman you would need if our roles were reversed. You have the choice to do the right thing. Shine light on truth, love and hope. Hate and evil doesn't need another platform."

Many online stood behind Márquez-Greene in her insistence that Kelly's decision to interview Jones is wrong. Not only that, but many also called for a boycott of the interview. One of those people was Chelsea Clinton.

"There is no justification for amplifying lies (or a liar)," Clinton tweeted. "Particularly about unimaginable tragedy. I hope no parent, no person watches this."

The uproar over Kelly's latest interview is just one of the controversies that has clouded the former FOX News anchor's jump to broadcast news. Kelly's "Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly" premiered on June 4 with a highly-promoted interview with Vladimir Putin that was watched by 6.1 million people. Her daily morning show is expected to premiere in September.
