CMT Music Awards open with all-star Gregg Allman tribute

Nashville-born rocker Gregg Allman died on May 27, and while the Allman Brothers are primarily regarded as a rock band, the Allman flavor heavily influenced the last few generations of country-rockers. So it was only fitting that the CMT Music Awards opened with an all-star Gregg Allman tribute, including Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley, Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Derek Trucks performing the iconic 1971 bluesy Southern rock jam "Midnight Rider."
