Ariel Winter's mother slams daughter over racy Instagram photos: 'She needs to grow up'

Ariel Winter's mother is breaking her silence on her daughter's infamously racy Instagram photos.

The "Modern Family" star has been posting sexy pictures on Instagram for a few years now, and her estranged mother, Chrystal Workman, opened up to In Touch this week about her feelings on the divisive photos her daughter's been sharing with her over 3 million followers.

"She needs to grow up," she said. "I would tell her to dress properly, be the beautiful person she is. I feel sad that she feels the need to expose herself when it's not necessary. Ariel is smart, beautiful and talented. She is a legitimate actress. She does not need to do this. She is beautiful with her clothes on."

Despite her strong feelings about her daughter's Instagram activity, Workman has no contact with her 19-year-old daughter. Winter became legally emancipated from her mother in 2015 after she accused her of physical and emotional abuse, in addition to sexualizing her as a child star.

Workman vehemently denies Winter's claims. "I would not do that," she told In Touch.

For her part, Winter has continuously defended her risqué social media presence. In response to criticism about an outfit she wore to a recent "Modern Family" event, Winter urged her followers to "wear whatever you want."

"Why TF does anyone care that I didn't dress casual like everyone else for the panel?" Winter wrote at the time. "Why do I have to be like everyone else? Why can't people just let other people feel good about themselves and do what they want? WEAR WHATEVER YOU WANT PEOPLE! As long as you feel good about yourself that's what matters. I know I did."
