Kesha wears bizarre red pantsuit with whale and fish appliqués

Well, there's a fashion risk of oceanic proportions.

Kesha certainly turned heads at a recent Washington, DC fundraiser for the David Lynch Foundation in an outfit that was more puzzling than anything else. If the boxy red suit adorned with glittering whales, fish and stars wasn't complicated enough as is, the star was seemingly very concerned about a wardrobe malfunction, clutching the top shut for photos.

Perhaps anticipating such a mishap, Kesha popped a patterned top underneath her blazer before taking the stage to perform a few songs. She also ditched her shoes backstage, posing barefoot with Katie Couric (and draping her long wig over the anchor's head).

While we're not sure what would draw Kesha to such an apparently uncomfortable ensemble, she may have taken some style cues from '70s-era Cher: In a waist-length platinum blonde wig and snakeskin booties, she effectively channeled the icon's more outlandish style moments.

Despite the odd outfit choice, it's great to Kesha looking so healthy and happy! After a few years of legal and personal tribulations, the star's career is on the rebound -- and her fans couldn't be prouder, commenting on her Instagrams from the evening, "Absolutely gorgeous!" and "QUEEN."

Also in attendance at the "National Night Of Laughter & Song" were Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, who palled around offstage. The event was hosted by Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness.
