Piers Morgan apologizes to Ariana Grande, says he 'misjudged' her after Manchester attack

British presenter Piers Morgan initially had harsh words for Ariana Grande in the wake of the Manchester Arena attack that took the lives of 22 and injured scores more. In the days after the devastating terror incident, the opinionated Good Morning Britain co-host tweeted criticism of the singer for returning home instead of visiting victims, comments that, in turn, drew condemnation of Morgan for lashing out at such an emotional time for Grande and his nation. (Grande made a surprise visit to young injured fans at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Friday (June 2), just days before the show.)

But following Grande's touching One Love Manchester all-star tribute show on Sunday (June 4) at the city's Old Trafford Cricket Ground, the blustering Morgan uncharacteristically swallowed his pride and apologized. "I misjudged you, @ArianaGrande & I apologise," Morgan wrote in a tweet that featured an image of Grande hugging a young girl affected by the tragedy. "You're an admirable young woman & this is magnificent night. Respect."

Grande performed a number of sets at the show, sitting in with Miley Cyrus and the Black Eyed Peas as well as playing her own set and providing an emotional highlight with a moving cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that brought tears to the faces of many of the 50,000 fans in attendance.

Morgan wasn't the only one reaching out to support Grande at the concert, as everyone from Camila Cabello to Enrique Iglesias, John Legend, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and Niall Horan tweeted their support for the event that raised more than $3 million for the British Red Cross' Manchester Emergency Fund.
