Rihanna shines bright (in Chopard Diamonds) at her jewelry launch in Cannes

Rihanna really loves Chopard — and she seems to be j'adoring Cannes too.

The superstar singer, who will be making her mark on the big screen with a pair of high-profile films in Valerian and Ocean's 8, looked every bit the silver screen star dripping in Chopard diamonds and draped in a custom Ralph & Russo gown at the launch of her Rihanna Loves Chopard fine jewelry collection inside the Chopard suite atop the Grand Hyatt Hotel Martinez on Thursday night. Boosting the glamour quotient were the accessories: sparkling drop earrings, a choker, watch and rings, all by Chopard, of course.

Pret-a-Reporter was inside the exclusive candlelit cocktail and dinner party, which featured lush tabletops packed with white, green and purple hydrangeas, expertly-lit diamond cases showcasing RiRi's collection, and four Chopard models standing and posing just steps from the entrance. The terrace was filled with movie stars (Julianne Moore, Aidan Turner), models (Petra Nemcova, Winnie Harlow) and film industry insiders (Netflix's Ted Sarandos and Scott Stuber, manager David Unger) along with Chopard's Caroline Scheufele.

The big surprise was that the typical crush of revelers who constantly snap iPhone pics — a party downer so often seen at Cannes bashes — was absent. The fortunate side effect: a genuinely elegant affair for the 100 or so guests. Even Rihanna was spotted at one point gliding through the party with only one bodyguard on her couture tail. (She did agree to personal photo requests from a string of guests, including Sarandos.)

The event kicked off back-to-back outings for Rihanna in Cannes with Chopard. On Friday night, she will team with Scheufele and Cathy Guetta for the SPACE party at Port Pierre Canto with special guest performer Bruno Mars. And she seems to be enjoying every minute of her Cannes debut. "Thank you to the wonderful Caroline Scheufele for such an unbelievable opportunity to create high end jewelry for the first time in my career," BadGalRiRi posted on Instagram. "Had a blast tonight at the official launch event for our collaboration!!!"

So did we, RiRi.
