Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston rave about 'Alien: Covenant' director Ridley Scott

The summer blockbuster season has officially kicked off and AOL's BUILD Series continues to welcome many big stars to the stage. Recently, BUILD hosted an 'Alien: Covenant' panel featuring Oscar-nominated actor Michael Fassbender and actress Katherine Waterston whom many of you have seen in the hit movie 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them'.

'Covenant' is the sequel movie to 2012's 'Prometheus'. It's the second installment in the 'Alien' prequel series and there will be no shortage of Xenomorphs this time around, that's for sure!

Fassbender and Waterston shared a lot about the 'Covenant' production process including their favorite sets, aspects about their respective characters, and most notably what was it like working with acclaimed producer and director Ridley Scott.

Fassbender and Waterston both agreed that Scott's directorial work was exceptional. They both explained their respective reasons why during the interview.

Fassbender who plays David and Walter, the androids in the film, cited Scott as a director that "loves his job".

"He casts his movie very well and I mean that sort of not just for the actors [but also] all of the departments. I feel if you work with people that know what they're doing, it doesn't become difficult. It's easier. He expects you to come prepared and have ideas but then after that he wants to have fun. He never stops working. If he's not in pre-production, he's shooting and if he's not shooting, he's in post-production.", shared Fassbender.

Waterston who plays Daniels, the terraforming expert on the 'Covenant' colony ship in the movie, echoed similar sentiments about Scott, to which was her first time working with him in her career.

"Ridley projects so much confidence on set. We all felt that when we were hired. He really believed in us and was excited to tell this new chapter. He's got the gift of eternal youth. He's so energetic on set. He's like a general leading his troops into battle everyday but like a giddy excited general if that makes any sense (laughs). He's so organized and he has everything worked out that he wants to do. Often when people are so visual like that, they can be kind of rigid. But he's really playful and really open to ideas." said Waterston.

Waterston named a memorable moment during production where if the cast got too chatty, Scott would say things like 'Oh, let's shoot the f--ker. The worst thing can happen is we're wrong!'. The on-set vibe was light and creatively freeing for everyone and yet still professional in the sense that Scott would get down to the nitty-gritty of the filmmaking process without fear with his cast.

You can see Fassbender and Waterston in 'Alien: Covenant' in theaters starting this Friday, May 19th! Check out the official website to learn more about the film and to purchase your tickets.
