Kate Middleton adorably chats with children in Luxembourg -- as one promptly bursts into tears

Kate Middleton is accustomed to meeting diplomats and celebrities, but on Thursday, the Duchess of Cambridge instead chatted with a collection of children -- and for one, the excitement was too much to bear!

Dressed to perfection in a pale blue coat dress, Kate made sure to get to know Luxembourg locals during her highly-anticipated visit. Several too-cute children were lucky enough to shake her hand and briefly chat with the princess.

After presenting Kate with a bouquet of yellow flowers, one little boy was overcome with emotion and promptly burst into tears. Thankfully, his mom was on hand to comfort him, and Kate couldn't help smiling at the sweet moment. A mom of two herself, there's no doubt she's used to unexpected tears!

Other adorable photos show Kate kneeling to chat with more pint-sized cuties. Several of them even (unintentionally, we assume) coordinated with the royal: Two young boys wore matching light blue button-downs, while another paired his collared blue shirt with a spiffy sport coat and bowtie.

Of course, young ladies were also anxious to meet Kate! One sure-to-be-classic photo shows Kate grinning at a blonde little girl. Another woman in the shot, presumably the girl's mother, is seen only from behind --and she bears a striking resemblance to none other than Princess Diana.

Although Kate is only scheduled to be in Luxembourg for one day, she's packed plenty into her schedule: She's already toured the Musze d'Art Moderne, visited a small festival, and met with Luxembourg's own royalty. Next on the schedule is a visit to the Drai Eechelen Museum for an event commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Treaty of London.
