Rod Stewart spotted with wife Penny Lancaster at Subway for lunch date

Even Rod Stewart can't resist a good deal!

The rocker, who has an estimated net worth of $235 million, was spotted having lunch with his wife Penny Lancaster at the most unlikely place -- Subway. Yes, the home of the $5 footlongs.

Rod, 72, and Penny, 46, were acting totally normal as they enjoyed some delicious sandwiches. You can see the picture of their fun outing here.

Stewart was overdressed for the occasion, rocking some tan trousers and a blazer over an unbuttoned white shirt. Meanwhile, his ladylove sported a more casual look of jeans and a pink sweater.

"It was quite amusing seeing this loaded rock star come into Subway with this beautiful woman and buy her lunch for under £5," an onlooker said.

His son, Sean, has previously claimed that his father is "very cheap." The revelation came during Sean's appearance on an American TV court show back in 2009. He allegedly didn't pay for personal training sessions, owing the trainer $5,000.

The judge, who looked stunned at the admission, asked: "Your dad has a lot of money, why is he cheap?"

Sean replied: "I don't know."

But maybe Rod just wants to live a totally normal life. In another episode of Rod doing totally normal things, he took public transportation to get to O2 Arena, where he played for a sold-out crowd of more than 20,000 people back in February. Of course, he totally went incognito for the outing, sporting some shades and a hat to hide himself. He documented the whole saga on Instagram, and it'll definitely give you a chuckle.
