Lana Parrilla opens up about her fear of singing and rapping aspirations

Updated

'Once Upon a Time' star, Queen Regina, played by Lana Parrilla stopped by BUILD Series NYC to talk about the show. 'Once Upon a Time' takes place in the town of Storybrooke which is full of magic, populated by fairytale characters cursed by the Evil Queen Regina to live in the real world—deprived of their memories. Parrilla talked to us about the new musical episode that premiered May 7th. Parrilla herself was not very excited about singing in the new episode and tried to pitch an idea to the creators that she should rap instead!

"This pitch happened in a text. I kinda like to rap even though I don't have a rapping background. I don't know, I think it is the Brooklyn girl in me that wishes I could really rap. I could rap if I know the words. They [creators of the show] were like no, thank you, Lana, for the idea."

The reason behind her rapping dreams? Well, Parrilla revealed said she was nervous to sing in the new musical episode after a bad experience signing when she was in elementary school.

"When I was eight years old I was given a solo. I remember being on stage and freezing once it came to my part, I couldn't get the words out. Everyone was waiting for me to sing, but I couldn't get the words out. From that point on I was like I'm never going to sing again, this is horrible, I suck!"
