'Originals' star Claire Holt and husband divorce after less than a year of marriage

"Originals" star Claire Holt and her husband of almost one year are divorcing.

The couple, who wed on April 28 one year ago, split recently and her husband, Matthew Kaplan filed for the divorce — citing irreconcilable differences — via his attorney on April 27.

PEOPLE obtained documents from the court and Holt filed a response confirming that they had split and that was asking that her maiden name be restored. She took Kaplan's last name when they wed at San Ysidro Ranch near Santa Barbara, California, last year.

The couple have rarely posted any photos together on social media since their marriage. The last post Holt seemed to share was more than 23 weeks ago.

Holt has been filming several films recently and also appeared to be spending time in her native, Australia.
