Lucy Hale and Troian Bellisario dish on their characters' fates in 'Pretty Little Liars' finale

Updated

"Pretty Little Liars" stars Lucy Hale and Troian Bellisario graced BUILD Series yesterday to give us the scoop on the show's series finale.

The Freeform thriller focuses on a group of high school girls who are thrown into twisted plots of murder and intrigue masterminded by "A," whose identity will at last be revealed, much to fans' relief. The wildly popular series is in its seventh and final season, and the first of the last ten episodes aired on Tuesday.

The actors chatted about awkward sex scenes, how the cast feels about "A's" identity (apparently, they all wanted to be "A"), and the fantastical plots featured in the teen drama.

Hale, who plays Aria Montgomery in the show, and Belissario, who plays Spencer Hastings, discussed the bittersweet nature of saying goodbye to the franchise.

Said Bellisario, "It is truly the end of an era...I have no doubt I will hang out with everybody, but it will never be under the same circumstances."

"I grew up on this show...It's very scary to leave something so familiar and comfortable but definitely exciting," said Hale, who was 21 while shooting the first season. "We're ending at the perfect time. This feels like the period at the end of a sentence. It will be nice not to have any secrets anymore."

Her co-star agreed about the stress of keeping mum on the highly confidential scripts: "I'm still scared to talk about what happened [on the show] because I think it's still a spoiler."

The gals spilled their thoughts on Part B of the PLL Endgame:

"It's great that Spencer is getting some answers. She has felt like the black sheep of her family for so long and now the world's like, 'You weren't wrong,'" said Bellisario.

The actress then addressed her character's fate: "It depends if Spencer really considers herself a Hastings or a Drake. She could live in either world--It's up to her."

Hale expressed similar excitement, saying, "Aria gets pitted against the girls for the first time...I got to do things I have never done in acting, period."

Hale went on to disclose that there will be not one, but two weddings by the series' end. The co-stars were adamant that the conclusion will be satisfying for PLL devotees.

"All of these confusing storylines will [be resolved and] end your frustrations," said Belissario. "It's about leaving these girls in a beautiful, healthy space and sending them off. It's been an honor to play them."

Catch Belissario in the "deeply personal" film "Feed" that she wrote, directed, and stars in alongside Tom Felton. Keep an eye out for Hale in the horror flick "Truth or Dare" (which she described as "It Follows" meets "Final Destination") in 2018.

And don't miss "Pretty Little Liars" Tuesdays on Freeform at 8 p.m. EST!
