Vanessa Hudgens talks style and empowerment: 'There's nothing more powerful or beautiful than a confident woman'

With 25 million Instagram followers and countless fans across the globe, Vanessa Hudgens is what many teens (and adults!) dream of becoming: Famous, stylish, effortlessly fun. And while she certainly is all of those things, Hudgens laughs at the idea that she's in any way "perfect."

"Nobody's perfect, first off," Hudgens emphatically told AOL Entertainment at EcoTools' 2017 #MyTrueBeauty launch. "Nowadays it's so easy to compare yourself to others, but God made you the way he made you for a reason, and we all need to embrace that."

Often hailed as the "Queen of Coachella," the 28-year-old star lived her own advice at this year's festival: In the true spirit of being carefree and not comparing herself to others, she has no idea what anyone else's outfits even looked like.

"I didn't see what other people were wearing -- I love what I wore!" she said. "It was like, this plastic mirror top that I found online that I fell in love with. They [We Koko] make the coolest festival gear." (At more than a million likes, her fans definitely agreed!)

The inner-beauty mantra aligns perfectly with her latest partnership: Hudgens is EcoTools' #MyTrueBeauty ambassador, combining her love for nature, women's empowerment, and -- of course! -- makeup.

"I've been doing my own makeup since I was eight years old, because I grew up doing musical theater," she said. "I've always been a fan of bold lips. At nine years old, I was running around wearing red lipstick."

The eight-week My True Beauty Bar tour will stop in cities across the country to help teach women easy, non-intimidating ways to apply makeup using EcoTools' environment-friendly brushes and blenders.

"It helps to take the intimidation out of makeup," Hudgens said. "When you look good, you feel good. And there's nothing more powerful or beautiful than a confident woman."

Even better, the campaign has joined forces with Glamour's global philanthropic initiative, The Girl Project. Feeling like getting a makeover and helping the world? The list of official Beauty Bar stops are listed here on EcoTools' website.
