Caitlyn Jenner speaks out about her sex and dating future

Updated

In her forthcoming memoir The Secrets of My Life, Caitlyn Jenner opens up about her perspective on gender confirmation surgery and her predictions for her sex and dating life, People reports.

"I don't have the appetite for [sex], which is why the public's obsession over whether I would [get gender confirmation surgery] is annoying to me," the 67-year-old Olympian reportedly writes. "It hearkens back to this [misperception that people transition because of their sexual desires](http://www.allure.com/story/caitlyn-jenner-sex-dating-women-memoir)." While gender identity and sexuality are distinct, they're still often conflated — but as Jenner makes clear, she transitioned because she was a woman, not because of her sexuality. Jenner also acknowledges that surgery itself doesn't have any bearing on someone's gender identity: "Transitioning is about nothing else but your soul," she told People. "You are no more a woman the day after [the surgery] than the day before, okay?"

In her book, Jenner also looks to the future: "A future female companion? I think about that. A future female sexual companion? Not happening, at least for now, and perhaps not ever," she writes in a part of the book she finished before her surgery. "A future male sexual companion? I have never had the inclination. But maybe that attitude might possibly change if I have the Final Surgery." Fortunately sex and dating are also distinct, and Jenner can define "companionship" however she likes.
