Jude Law to play a young Dumbledore in sequel to 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'

Jude Law is slated to play Dumbledore -- a much younger version, of course -- in the upcoming sequel to "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." The film will reportedly take place around the time when he was a Transfiguration professor at Hogwarts.

The sequel will see the return of star Eddie Redmayne and director David Yates. Johnny Depp is also signed on to co-star. Warner Bros. has so far given no comment on the casting update.

"Fantastic Beasts" was released in 2016 and raked in more than $800 million at the box office. It won an Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 2017 Academy Awards.

The film is scheduled for a November 2018 release.
