Panic! at the Disco frontman Brendon Urie to make Broadway debut in 'Kinky Boots'

Broadway's "Kinky Boots" has found its new star: Panic! at the Disco's Brendon Urie!

The punk rock frontman will trade his Converse for stilettos in the hit musical starting in May 2017. He'll play leading man Charlie Price, a British shoe designer who finds inspiration in bold drag queen Lola.

Urie posted a cryptic Instagram announcing the big news: "Lost a bet to a guy in a chiffon skirt..." he wrote, quoting Panic!'s own lyrics to "Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time." The photo? A silky red Broadway curtain. The double meaning wasn't lost on his followers: "YES BRENDON MAKE THOSE HIGH HEELS WORK!" one fan wrote.

Although he's best known as lead singer for the Grammy-nominated, chart-topping Panic! at the Disco, Urie's vocal talents aren't limited to rock music. He has a rare four-octave tenor vocal range, which will certainly lend itself well to the Broadway stage.
