Talk about foreboding!

In a hard-to-watch clip that People uncovered, Prince Charles and Princess Diana are shown talking to a reporter during the announcement of their engagement in 1981.

"...and I suppose, in love?" the reporter asks in the clip.

"Of course," the then-Lady Diana Spencer replies coyly.

"Whatever 'in love' means," Charles responds with an unexpected laugh as Diana giggles nervously in response.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana wed on July 29, 1981 and later divorced in 1996. They share two sons together, William, 34, and Harry, 32. Diana tragically died in a car accident at the age of 36 in 1997.

In an explosive new book, "Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of an Improbable Life," biographer claims Sally Bedell Smith that the couple was "deeply unhappy, or at least Diana was, from literally Day One of their marriage," as The Sunday Times' royal correspondent explained to ABC News recently.

The uncertainty that Charles expresses in the resurfaced clip is mirrored by the portrait Smith paints of him in her new biography.

"Going into something like this, I think, he felt that was it for life," the correspondent continued to explain. "He wasn't sure of the relationship, and I think he felt incredibly trapped, probably, on the eve of his wedding."

Recently, photos of the former couple went viral, because it appeared as though Prince Charles was much taller than Princess Diana in their official wedding photos, despite the fact that they were essentially the same height.
