Jon Gosselin's debut as a stripper wasn't what anyone expected

Jon Gosselin made his highly-anticipated debut as a stripper on Saturday night and, well, it wasn't what anyone was expecting.

During the "Untamed Male Revue" at Dusk Nightclub in Atlantic City, Gosselin made multiple appearances and danced to songs like "Pony" by Ginuwine and "SexyBack" by Justin Timberlake, but he never actually stripped, E! News reports.

In fact, he didn't even take his shirt off! Well, he did, but he was wearing a tank top with six-pack abs drawn onto it underneath.

"I never said I was going to strip!" he told E! News at the end of the show, which also doubled as his 40th birthday celebration.

Gosselin's lack of stripping didn't discourage the audience from getting into the show, however. At one point, a woman in the audience stuck a $100 bill down his pants while his family and friends -- including girlfriend Colleen Conrad -- looked on from a roped off area.

"To my family, I apologize," he reportedly said during the show.

Ahead of his big night, Gosselin, who claimed to have lost 25 pounds ahead of his debut, had said that his kids knew he would be performing during the strip show.

"My kids know everything that's gonna go on," he said earlier this week. "I cleared it with them before I did anything."

As it turns out, the hoopla around Gosselin's apparent career change was a "social experiment," as he explained in a video he posted to his Facebook page after the show.

"What started as a great social experiment turned out to be an incredible experience, and I'm glad planet Earth still cares about me," he said in the footage. "Everyone wants to know why I did this. I've been under media scrutiny for a good part of my life, 10 years. [...] I wanted to give myself the best 40th birthday present ever. I wanted my family and my friends to be there and why not have a huge party with an amazing venue?"
