Mindy Kaling says "yes" to dinner with Sen. Cory Booker

Mindy Kaling's joke about Sen. Cory Booker on her show may have led to a future dinner date with him. After recent episode of The Mindy Project included a diss about Booker formerly being the mayor of Newark, the two joked about it on Twitter, which resulted in Kaling responding "yes" to having dinner with Booker in Newark.

On The Mindy Project Kaling's character is shown saying "Cory Booker? I can't believe he came. I guess anything to get out of Newark, huh?"

Booker replied saying that he heard about his mention in the show and disagreed. He tweeted to Kaling, "Ouch! "heard Dr. Lahiri dissed Newark last night ... & I disagree" to which Kaling responded saying that the mention means that he is actually cool.

Booker then responded, "You are making my day! Thanks for the clarification. And If the [heart emoji] is really mutual... Come have dinner with me in Newark? #PleaseSayYes"

Kaling responded tweeting, "Yes. Now let me get the PATH train schedule."

The PATH train official Twitter account even joined in on the conversation tweeting the current schedule. But Booker responded saying Kaling is worth sending a Lyft for instead.

Both Kaling and Booker have not immediately responded to The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment.
