Chris Evans reveals exactly when he lost his virginity: 'One of the best years of my life'

Chris Evans is a very good actor who has also proven himself quite intelligent and politically aware.

Now that that's out of the way, Chris Evans just revealed when he lost his virginity.

Captain America himself didn't hold back in a new interview with Esquire, dropping some unexpected revelations in for the April issue. The star got real not only about his "first time," but also about drug use and the worst phone call of his life.

As it turns out, the summer of 1999 was a pivotal time for Evans. He was 18 years old and had already determined he'd soon move to Los Angeles to pursue a Hollywood career. "I know I'm going to L.A. in August," he said. "I would wake up around noon, saunter into high school just to see my buddies, and we'd go get high i the parking lot. I just f-cked off."

Not all the highs were drug-induced: "I lost my virginity that year," he revealed. (For the record, age 18 is about a year older than the national average.)

"1999 was one of the best years of my life," Evans said -- until he settled into LA and received a phone call that completely threw a wrench in his life: His parents were divorcing. Until he received that call from home, he had no idea a separation -- let alone a divorce -- was on its way.

The split led Evans to better understand the difference between familial and friend relationships.

"If something goes south with a friend, you have the option to say, 'We're not friends anymore,'" he said. "Your family -- that's your family. Trying to make that system work and trying to make it not just functional but actually enjoyable is a really challenging endeavor, and that's certainly how it is with my family."

Evans' new film, "Gifted" -- co-starring ex-girlfriend Jenny Slate -- hits theaters in April.
