Natalie Portman welcomes second child, a girl, with husband Benjamin Millepied

Natalie Portman backed out of the 2017 Academy Awards at the last minute ... and now we know why!

The "Jackie" star gave birth to her second child, a girl named Amalia, with husband Benjamin Millepied on February 22, her rep confirmed.

"Mother and baby are happy and healthy," the rep revealed.

The 35-year-old actress was also notably absent from the Independent Spirit Awards, which happened the day before the Oscars. She released a statement on February 24 revealing she was going to miss both shows due to her pregnancy, but she didn't specify that she had already given birth!

Natalie was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars and Best Female Lead at the Spirit Awards for her role in "Jackie," a portrait of Jacqueline Kennedy in the days surrounding her husband's assassination.

Last month, the "Black Swan" star showed off her baby bump on the SAG Awards red carpet, where she revealed that she hasn't picked out a baby name yet.

"You got to meet a baby before [you choose a name]," she explained at the time. "Gotta meet the baby and then figure it out."

Natalie and Benjamin chose quite a unique moniker for their five-year-old son Aleph, so it's not a surprise they continued the trend with their newborn baby girl.

The couple tied the knot in 2012 after they met while filming "Black Swan," for which he was the choreographer.

Congrats to the happy couple!
