Luke Perry reveals he hasn't talked to Shannen Doherty about her tragic cancer battle

Luke Perry got candid about Shannen Doherty's heartbreaking breast cancer battle.

The actor revealed that he hasn't talked to Doherty, 45, about her diagnosis, but he did have some sweet words for his former "Beverly Hills, 90210" love interest.

"When it's good for Shannen, I'm sure we'll talk. She's brave, she's a fighter. She's in my heart and I think about it," Perry told Us Weekly. "Shannen has taken the opportunity to raise the awareness and let everybody know breast cancer is still a problem. I'll take this opportunity to send her my love."

The '90s heartthrob has also helped raise awareness in his own way. He became involved with the American Cancer Society and Fight Colorectal Cancer last year due to a close friend who is battling the disease.

And while the two haven't spoken, he honored his former costar during a mini cast reunion during Rewind Con back in November of last year.

"None of us are up here today without Shannen. She's been through a lot," he said at the time. "She's a very big part of the success of this show. She taught me a lot. I'm glad she was my scene partner."

Their on-screen characters, Dylan and Brenda, are considered one of the most memorable TV couples in history.

Recently, Doherty was spotted shopping in Venice, California, with her mother after revealing on Instagram that she just had her last day of chemotherapy.

"Now that I'm done with chemo and radiation, the waiting game is here. Waiting for test. Waiting to see if I'm clear or not. Waiting for reconstruction. Waiting. I think when one gets cancer, they are always waiting to a certain extent. To those who know... I'm waiting with you. #cancerslayer," she captioned the snapshot.

The actress was diagnosed with the disease in 2015 and within a year it had spread to her lymphatic system. She's remained active on social media over the course of her treatments to keep fans informed.

Shannen has received an outpouring of support from friends and family, including her husband of six years, Kurt Iswarienko. The tragic diagnosis has made their relationship stronger than ever. She posted an old photo from their wedding day in late 2016 where she gushed that he is her "soul mate" and "other half."
