Brad Pitt has reportedly contacted Jennifer Aniston amid bitter split from Angelina Jolie

A blast from the past!

Amid his bitter divorce from Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt has reportedly reached out to the last person anyone would've probably expected -- his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston.

The 53-year-old actor didn't have Aniston's number, so he tracked it down through various contacts so he could wish her a happy birthday on February 11.

"They started talking once he wished her a happy birthday," a source close to the "Mother's Day" actress said.

While their conversations seem platonic, Brad did get personal with his ex-wife about what he's currently going through.

"Brad told her he's having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past."

But what exactly does Jen's current husband, Justin Theroux, have to say about all of this?

"Justin is OK with them being friends," the source revealed. "Jen just wants to be nice."

Way back when, Brad and Jen were considered the "it" couple in Hollywood. They divorced in 2005 after five years of marriage. Shortly after, he began dating Angelina. Jolie revealed in a 2006 interview that she fell hard for him on the set of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

The "Allied" star is currently battling Jolie, 41, for joint custody for his six kids -- Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Scandal has rocked Pitt's personal life since the announcement of his divorce, which includes an alleged child abuse incident that month involving Maddox. The FBI cleared him of any wrongdoing in November.

Meanwhile, Jen is living her best life right now. The 48-year-old actress is happily married to her "Leftovers" star hubby, who she tied the knot with in 2015. They recently got back from a romantic birthday and Valentine's Day getaway in Cabo San Lucas.

This past weekend, they looked totally in love at the 2017 Oscars, where Jen stole the spotlight from her man in a revealing Versace ensemble. Check out her look in the slideshow below:
