Bill Paxton eerily reveals health issues as a teen weeks before his death at 61

Just weeks before his unexpected death from a stroke during heart surgery, Bill Paxton revealed that he suffered heart problems when he was just a teen.

The beloved actor and filmmaker, who unexpectedly passed away at 61 on Saturday, eerily disclosed on Marc Maron's WTF podcast that he contracted rheumatic fever when he was only 13. His scary bout with the illness left him on bed rest.

"I woke up one night. I had been to a hockey game, and I woke up one night and I had a lot of pain in my left wrist," he explained.

The illness, which he said could damage heart valves, probably came from a "bad sore throat."

"It kind of isolated me at an interesting age," the star revealed at the time. "Suddenly I was in this voyeuristic kind world, where I had TV but there wasn't much TV on in those days, and I read a lot and looked out the window at the golf course."

Host Marc Maron then asked the icon, known for his roles in "Twister" and "Titanic," if he's experienced issues with his heart since then.

"Well yeah," Bill replied. "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

The announcement of Paxton's unexpected passing hours before the 2017 Oscars left Hollywood in disbelief.

An emotional Jennifer Aniston honored the late Emmy-winning actor while introducing the award show's In Memoriam segment. Due to the unexpectedness of his death, he was not included in the video montage.

"Every one was a cherished member of our Hollywood family ... as was beloved friend and actor who left us just yesterday, Bill Paxton," she said while getting visibly choked up.

Other celebrities, like Jamie Lee Curtis and Rob Lowe, shared their condolences on social media immediately after news broke.

The "Training Day" star is survived by his two children, James and Lydia, and his wife Louise Newbury.
