Nicki Minaj and Remy Ma are beefing right now and dear god nobody was ready for all the shade

Hope you're hungry, because Nicki Minaj is serving up some prime, grade-A beef between her and fellow rapper Remy Ma, and we were all unprepared.

The internet went into collective freakout mode on Thursday night after rapper Gucci Mane released a new track, "Make Love," featuring Nicki Minaj.

On the track Nicki raps:

"Oooohhh, oh you the qu-e-e-the queen of this here?/

One platinum plaque, album flopped, bitch, where? (bitch, where?)...

You see, silly rabbit, to be the queen of rap/

You gotta sell records, you gotta get plaques."

Little background, here: Nicki Minaj has famously declared herself the Queen of Rap, on several occasions—including but not limited to her feature on Ariana Grande's "Side to Side" ("I'm the queen of rap, young Ariana run pop") and her feature on Rae Sremmurd's "No Flex Zone - Remix" ("Run this game for 5 years/ guess that's why my feet hurt...Yes, I am an icon, that's me on your t-shirt").

A Twitter war ensued after Minaj called out MTV when 'Anaconda' wasn't nominated for video of the year, claiming it was because she wasn't a "different 'kind' of artist".

Swift, who was nominated for 'Bad Blood' then tweeted at the rapper saying it was so unlike Nicki to "pit women against each other." Swift later apologized for misunderstanding.

Probably the most famous Twitter feud that ever existed was between rappers Drake and Meek Mill.

Mill, after taking it to social media that Drake "don't write his own raps!" The 'Hotline Bling' rapper responded with not one but two songs.

"What's good Miley?"

Minaj threw some serious shade at the former Disney star at this year's VMAs after Miley told the press that the rapper was "not very polite." The 'Anaconda' singer then took it to live TV at the awards show to call her out on her comments.

Kardashian katfight!

This feud should've really been Amber Rose and Kylie Jenner after the model shot comments about Jenner's then relationship with 25-year-old rapper Tyga.

Instead, Khloe fired backed to Rose on Twitter, defending her little sister, calling the model out on her former stripper days.

We didn't see this one coming! Iggy Azalea dissed the queen of pop when their track 'Pretty Girls' didn't make it onto the top charts.

Even though their feud began in 2014, Swift's "Bad Blood" released in 2015, claiming it was about a "straight-up enemy."

During Nick and Taylor's Twitter feud Katy chimed in saying “Finding it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument about as one unmeasurably capitalizes on the take down of a woman...”

The ultimate social media shade! Chyna, who is Tyga's ex, posted a picture on Instagram of a watch the rapper gave her in 2013. Jenner, responded with an Instagram post with a very similar-looking a few hours after.

The two have been going back-and-forth posting look-alike pictures moments from each other ever since. Who knows if Kylie will stop now that her and the rapper have called it quits.

After the GOP debate hosted by Fox where Kelly was moderator, the Republican front-runner said he has "no respect" for the anchor, retweeting messages online of Kelly calling her a "bimbo."

The former member of One Direction threw shade at the DJ's famous girlfriend, Taylor Swift through Twitter when she announced her stance on music streaming.

Like a good boyfriend, Harris defended Swift saying, “Stay out of things you don’t understand" causing Malik to respond, "you just made an absolute fool of yourself mate."

And many considered this "Make Love" verse to be the clapback at Remy Ma everyone's been waiting for.

So: Why would Nicki Minaj be clapping back at Remy Ma, you ask?

On December 25, 2016—because shade does not take time off for Christmas— New York rapper Phresher released a video for his song "Wait A Minute (Remix)" featuring Remy Ma. And in the song Remy Ma raps,

"Will I smoke this bitch? Yes/

Probably fail my piss test/

Get rid of those fake breasts/

And put a vest on this bitch chest."

The lyrics pinged the internet's collective shade barometer as a shot at Nicki Minaj and her then-boyfriend Meek Mill (who'd previously failed a urine test and was put on house arrest).

Nicki never responded. Until this new Gucci Mane track. A move that had even American treasure Issa Rae like: "Sis, don't."

Because sure enough, Remy Ma opened the library and read Nicki for filth, by releasing "Shether," a scorching hot 7-minute diss track the likes of which the world hasn't seen since Drake famously eviscerated Meek Mill in 2015.

And the internet did what it does when there's great beef: ate it up, and lost its damn mind.

And now, the two rap goddesses are shading each other on social media, because of course they are.

The moral of the story: whether you're a Nicki fan or a Remy Ma fan, your wig has just been snatched. Also: Saturdays, great for rap beef on the internet.
