2017 Independent Spirit Awards red carpet arrivals

Stars definitely put a spring in their step on Saturday at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica. The blue carpet was awash with light-colored frocks, spring florals and some bold little black dresses, but it was all a nice departure from the glitz and glam evening gowns that award season normally brings us.

Kate Beckinsale stole the show at the Indies in curve-hugging gown with a fetching number of plume-like white feathers across the top and a form-fitting black bottom. The two-tone dress was fresh and fun with the whimsical details of the feathers.

"Scandal" star Kerry Washington also didn't disappoint and she put her best foot forward in a similar style dress with a black A-line skirt bottom and a white embellished top. The dress was pretty and flirty without being over the top.

One of the brightest and yet most beautiful looks of the afternoon went to Freida Pinto. The "Slumdog Millionaire" star looked gorgeous in yellow gown with sheer details and floral applique.
