Luke Bryan thanks fans for their prayers after the death of his infant niece

Luke Bryan thanked his fans for their prayers on Wednesday (Feb. 22), one day after his infant niece, Sadie Brett, died while battling undisclosed cardiac issues and other health problems.

Sadie was born in the summer of 2016 to Bo Byer -- the brother of Bryan's wife Caroline -- and his wife Ellen. On Feb. 19, Ellen revealed on her Facebook page that after a promising week, her daughter's health was not in good shape and she was on several antibiotics to treat what the doctors thought was a blood infection/sepsis. She was undergoing treatment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville.

The country singer and his family have experienced a number of unexpected deaths. Bryan's brother Chris died in a car accident in 1996 and his sister Kelly died in 2007 from undetermined causes. Kelly's husband, Ben Lee Cheshire, died in 2014, which caused Bryan and his wife to step up to care for their orphaned nephew Til.
