Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift's Fifty Shades Darker collaboration "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" is poised to crush the charts. So the time is perfect for Malik to release a video of his solo acoustic take on the intense tune. The 24-year-old former One Direction member dropped a YouTube video of his version, filmed in a recording studio.

The grainy black and white clip shows Malik emoting the lyrics over sparse acoustic guitar, with his fragile vocals doubled and sometimes tripled, creating an eerie effect. The four-minute meditation came just hours after Swift dropped her own solo take, a rehearsal run through the song in advance of her DIRECT TV NOW Super Saturday Night show on the eve of the Super Bowl.
